Plums are nearly finished! If you haven’t stocked up your freezer or made your jam, don’t delay. We are now picking our last variety – Croppers. They are a black, good sized, tasty eater and an excellent plum for culinary purposes. There are plenty of damsons both for PYO and ready picked and blackberries are still going strong.
Apples are ripening daily. We now have Bramleys, Worcester Pearmain, Katy, Greensleeves, Ellison’s Orange, Fortune, Elstar, James Grieve ready to eat.
A reminder that our apple weekend is October 11th and 12th..
If you have a child in your family, why not book them a place on our Orchard Adventure which takes place next Sunday (31st August) at 11.30am? We will be finding 7 animal homes as well as looking at the fruit we grow. Cost is £5 per child which includes a child’s meal box in Woodpecker Cafe. Booking is essential so get in touch asap as places are limited to 10.

Plums are going quickly! We are still hoping to have a stall at Pershore Plum Fair on Bank Holiday Monday but will have to assess the situation over the next couple of days. The only Victorias left are high in the trees, as are the Kirke’s Blue. Damsons are ready for picking in some parts of the orchard and we are getting underway with apples. The varieties we have at present are –
Grenadier, James Grieve and Bramley – cookers
Katy, Greensleeves, Elstar, Fortune, Epicure and Tydeman’s Early
We have started picking Victoria plums today – a little earlier than we expected. Katy apples and Worcester Tydeman’s (an early season’s version of the true Worcester apple), are also now available. Purple Pershore plums are still being picked as are the Yellow Pershores (yellow egg)
We have plenty of Purple Pershores ready. This is a really tasty plum ideal for eating but also for cooking and jam making. Today we started picking Belles which are large, juicy, sweet plums. We also are picking blackberries and runner beans. Come along and buy PYO or ready picked fruit. Don’t miss out on our newly opened cafe. It is open 10 – 4pm and if you check it out on Facebook, you will see it has excellent reviews.
Prolifics now finished. There are just a few Opals left. Czars are plentiful. Swans are available and Purple Pershores are getting riper by the day with some ready to pick now. There are Beauty of Bath and Irish Peach apples ready.
