We have a lot of surface water but aren’t actually flooded. Many of our trees have short roots and are suffering from the wet soils and high winds. We have lost a few but hopefully not too many. We hope those of you reading this are keeping safe and dry in this atrocious weather.
I am sorry to hear about the wet ground and loss of some trees.
I planted most of your trees when I used to help Mick & Doris Knott. In the late 1970s we replanted nearly the whole of the orchard.
We had a job finding some of the drains – but I got out my dowsing rods and we eventually located them. We then rodded the drains and this improved things a lot.
I am glad that you are keeping the orchard going – I spent many wonderful hours pruning and helping to look after the trees.
